Víctor Pochat’s water-management experience spans Latin America. With a civil engineering degree from Argentina’s National University of Cuyo and a master’s in hydrology from the University of California Davis, he planned to go into research, but has spent his career mainly in water management, working with various countries and international organizations. Pochat has served in his native Argentina as undersecretary of water resources and president of the country’s National Institute of Water Science and Technology. He has consulted for the UN Economic Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean, the UN Environment Program and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and now works with the Global Water Partnership, an international organization that promotes integrated water management.
