Region has no high scorer in climate ranking

While Latin America as a region produces just 9% of world greenhouse gases, the performance of its top three emitters still leaves much to be desired, according to a recent report by Germanwatch, a nonprofit environment and development organization. The report, the 10th annual edition of the Climate Change Performance Index, was released with support from the non-governmental Climate Action Network Europe on Dec. 8 at the United Nations climate summit in Lima. It ranks the world’s 58 highest emitters in terms of overall emissions, energy efficiency, use of renewable energy and climate policies.
