Argentine green support wide, but how deep?

Most Argentines value protecting the environment, but believe the government cares little or nothing about doing so, according to a survey issued this month by Vida Silvestre, a conservation group that represents the World Wildlife Fund here. The survey of 800 people also found that a majority of Argentines believe the country’s natural resources are being used irresponsibly, with little regard for subsequent generations. Two of three survey respondents said they think Argentina’s environmental condition has worsened over the past five years and disagree with the view that environmental regulation is an obstacle to economic development. By the same margin, poll respondents pronounced themselves willing to pay higher taxes to protect the nation’s natural systems, and 85% said they’d pay higher prices for products certified...
